Thoma (トーマ, Tōma?) He is one of the supporting characters of The Promised Neverland series He is a seven-year-old orphan who formerly resided at Grace Field House Plant 3 as one of the many foster children of Isabella. Due to his age, Thoma is considered to be one of the house's "average-quality goods".[3] He is an energetic boy who is often seen around his best friend, Lannion. He is later brought into the escape plan alongside Lannion, Nat, and Anna after the truth of the orphanage is revealed.
After successfully escaping Grace Field alongside fourteen other orphans, Thoma now seeks to find William Minerva, whom he and his team believe can grant them the liberty to live a safe and peaceful life away from the demons.
Appearance[]

Thoma is a young boy with black monolid eyes, a wide smile and one missing tooth. He has short black hair which sticks up in three oval sections at the top of the right side of his head, and the bottom of his left side. He wears the standard Grace Field uniform- a plain white long sleeved button-up shirt and white pants along with brown boots. His identification number, "55294", is tattooed onto the left side of his neck.
History[]
Thoma was born at Grace Field on August 30, 2038 and sent to Plantation 3 a year later in 2039, growing up along with several other children under the parental care of Isabella. Thoma is brought into the escape plan alongside Anna, Nat and Lannion after Don and Gilda revealed the truth of the orphanage to them by allowing them to listen in on Emma and Norman's conversation with Sister Krone. Thoma and Lannion helped the children escape by making a decoy for Ray and creating two water rockets with ropes attached to the bottoms and shooting them over the cliff in order to get the ends of the ropes to Don on the other side. Thoma successfully escaped the house along with the rest of his siblings who were over the age of five.
Personality[]
Thoma appears to be a mischievous boy and enjoys pulling pranks along with Lani. He is also resourceful as he invented a water rocket with a rope attached to it which played a big part in the escape, enabling the orphans to cross the cliff surrounding Grace Field House. Although he is a bit cowardly and blunt, he has a strong will and cares deeply for his family.
Plot[]
Introduction Arc[]
Taking daily tests, playing a game of tag, eating scrumptious homemade food and having a good time – Thoma went through the same routine every day at Grace Field House. Thoma was first seen playing tag with his siblings of the Grace Field House, where he was almost immediately caught by Norman.[4] A few days later, during a game of tag, he was caught by Krone along with Nat, Lannion, and Anna.[5]
Jailbreak Arc[]
It is revealed that he, along with Nat, Anna, and Lannion was brought into the escape plan after Don and Gilda. Thoma was seen being horrified when Isabella carried Emma with a broken leg, to which he understood that it was Isabella's doing. During the two months after Norman's shipment, Thoma and his siblings got instructions from Emma on how to train the orphans for the upcoming escape. Thoma also assisted in the escape, making a decoy for Ray and fastening the zip lines in order to cross the cliff. On January 15, 2046, Thoma and his siblings escape from Grace Field House.[6]
Promised Forest Arc[]

Thoma and the other Grace Field children begin their journey to find a safe place to live. The children play for a short while, Thoma and Lannion even fooling around by running on bridging trees. It's hinted at that it might have been a few hours, possibly leading into the very next day to where the episode begins. As the night carries on, the children continue to make their way until they're stopped in their tracks by a wild demon who chases them throughout the forest. Thoma and all meet up once again, Emma suddenly collapses due the wound on her ear opening up once more. Someone in the distance leads them to safety, a group of fireflies illuminating the figure. The group is quick to realize it might be one of the humans Krone mentioned to them, and allow themselves to trust her.[7]

Mujika rescued Thoma and the other children. Mujika and Sonju taught the kids the survival skills they needed to learn. Thoma and other younger children also tell Ray not to wander off and act so recklessly; Sonju told them about Ray playing tag with the Pursuer, and mentions that if he didn't come in to save him he would have most likely died.[8] six days passed away and the children already came out of the fore and they could finally go to the shelter. Thoma and his family have reached the shelter and they went into it. The children saw the kitchen, bath, garden, library and big room. While Anna chasing Lannion and Thoma, she saw Yvette in front of a door. They went inside and they saw a wall with the written word ''Help'' and others.[9]

Thoma and others lived happily on the shelter. They start to do everyday activities using the skills they learned in the forest: Foraging, hunting, playing in the desert, growing their own vegetables among other things. In the forest, Thoma and others has not been able to hunt down anything and seem ready to give up. However, Thoma and Lannion catches a fish they nicknamed Goowee due to its sticky residue, although had difficulty restraining it and eventually it jumps to the bag. The group realizes they can catch them, and proceed to attempt to catch a quarry of them, though most failed miserably. Thoma and Lannion decide to try it as they were the ones who discovered it, as well as Ray, simply due to being bored. The three take a bite and chew and swallow it, whilst Don kept track of their well being and times how long it would take for them to puke it out. Twenty minutes pass, then thirty, then nearly an hour, when they can not hold it any longer and loudly declare it to be delicious, the rest of the kids dig in. Their life in the shelter lasted only a month because they were attacked by house pursuers. They managed to escape their attack. But they were immediately caught but the wild demon ate the house pursuers and the children ran into the forest as they were being chased by the wild demon.[10]

After the attack on the shelter. Thoma and the others lived in the temple near the demon village to live there in the meantime. Thoma and Lannion reveal their demon costumes to the group and beg Emma to take them with her into town. Emma objects initially, but gives in when Don decides to take them anyway. The old demon came to the temple and he told the children not to stop alone in the temple of the evil blooded. This demon did not know that they were human so they were afraid until the old demon left. In the forest, Thoma and Lannion show their slingshot method of catching the Goowee fish to the group, which they're amazed by and proceed to catch the fish this way.

Once they're done, they decide to trick Emma to go into town to get some seasoning there, which she does. However, once in the market, the two bump into the same demons who were searching for them by accident. At first apologizing for this encounter, the demons start to smell human meat and believe that they were carrying some, but find fish instead. As the two were walking away, they still smell human meat. In a panic, the two run and the demons give chase all across town. Emma and Ray watch from the rooftops before they were chased by another group of demons.[11]

Thoma and the others are all shocked at seeing Norman in front of them, but the little tots embrace him, with him remarking at their growth. Norman explained to them what had happened to him and about the demons. Norman said they would kill all the demons so they would no longer live in fear. [12]Emma confesses to Thoma and the others her plan that she will not kill the demons. She explained her reason and Thoma and the others supported Emma. While Emma, Ray, Don and Gilda are looking for Sonju and Mujika.[13] The children who did not come with them were left in the temple. While Thoma and Lannion were on guard, they saw that there was smoke in the Demon Village. and they thought that Norman had done his plan.[14]
Return to Grace Field Arc[]

When Ray and the others returned. Thoma and Lannion ran over to Ray in a panic and inform him that Phil and others are about to be shipped out. Unaware to them, it was a trap set up by Peter Ratri and his newest grandma, Isabella. Then they talked about how they could save Phil and the others.[15] Thoma and the others prepare to rescue Phil and the others. Thoma and other manage to go inside. They head to the elevator where everyone reunites. Ratri with the sisters and moms takes in the defeat of the children, and asks them to stand down and surrender but Isabella and other sisters and moms side with them and oppose Ratri.[16] Thoma sees Emma reconciling with Ratri but he commits suicide. When they came out they saw that the trio, Barbara, Cislo and Zazie had not come along. Thoma and Lannion was hesitant about this but they understood them.

Human World Arc[]
They succeeded in reaching the door to the world of human.They succeeded in reaching the Human World. They lived there peacefully Thoma, Lannion, Dominic and Chris are playing airplane game. Thoma and the others saw that the five had arrived after a few years and they were together again.[17]

Thoma learned how to use an arrow from Sonju. Thoma and Lannion shot one of the house pursuers who attacked them.
Relationships[]
Lannion[]
Lannion is Thoma's best friend ever. They are always seen together, and whatever they do; playing, pulling pranks, inventing things, or running away from demons, they do together. Due to being the same age and having grown up together, Thoma and Lannion have a very close twin sibling-like relationship. They have near identical personalities and sometimes say the exact same thing at the same time as one another and finish each other's sentences.
Emma[]
Thoma is close to Emma and views her as an older sister. Although he looks up to her as their leader, he also likes to mess with her and pull pranks on her.
Ray[]
Thoma cares for Ray and admires him as an older brother. He was against Ray's plan to die and therefore worked hard to prevent it. Thoma also appreciates Ray's hard work and his wise words which he sometimes shares with him and Lani. However, he also likes to tease him and sometimes throws out sarcastic comments about his self-sacrificing personality.
