This article is about the Manga version of Thoma. For alternate pages referred to by this name, please click any of the icons above.
Thoma (トーマ, Tōma?) is a seven-year-old orphan who formerly resided at Grace Field House Plant 3 as one of the many foster children of Isabella. Due to his age, Thoma is considered to be one of the house's "average-quality goods".[6] He is an energetic boy who is often seen around his best friend, Lannion. He is later brought into the escape plan alongside Lannion, Nat, and Anna after the truth of the orphanage is revealed.
After successfully escaping Grace Field alongside fourteen other orphans, Thoma now seeks to find William Minerva, whom he and his team believe can grant them the liberty to live a safe and peaceful life away from the demons.
Appearance
Thoma is a young boy with black monolid eyes, a wide smile and one missing tooth. He has short black which sticks up in three oval sections at the top of the right side of his head, and the bottom of his left side. He wears the standard Grace Field uniform- a plain white long sleeved button-up shirt and white pants along with brown boots. His identification number, "55294", is tattooed onto the left side of his neck.
In 2047, Thoma stopped wearing the standard Grace Field uniform, instead adopting long black pants and an oversized long sleeved white shirt with the same brown boots he wore at Grace Field House. Now at the age of nine, Thoma has slightly longer hair which now sticks up in six oval sections on the upper back of his head. He also has developed a much more oval-shaped face.
History
Thoma was born at Grace Field on August 30, 2038 and sent to Plantation 3 a year later in 2039, growing up along with several other children under the parental care of Isabella. Thoma is brought into the escape plan alongside Anna, Nat and Lannion after Don and Gilda revealed the truth of the orphanage to them by allowing them to listen in on Emma and Norman's conversation with Sister Krone. Thoma and Lannion helped the children escape by making a decoy for Ray and creating two water rockets with ropes attached to the bottoms and shooting them over the cliff in order to get the ends of the ropes to Don on the other side. Thoma successfully escaped the house along with the rest of his siblings who were over the age of five.
Personality
Thoma is a mischievous, rowdy, curious and childish boy who enjoys handicraft, inventing new things, playing pretend, chasing his siblings, catching bugs and pulling pranks along with his best friend, Lannion. Additionally, he is shown to be rather active as he loves playing sports, especially baseball, soccer and football as well as tag, hide-and-seek, and other games with his siblings. He also enjoys reading and studying and gets good grades on his daily tests. Although he is a bit timid at times, he desperately does not want to be seen as cowardly and always tries to act brave and cool in the face of danger. He is not afraid to come up with and perform dangerous stunts and can be a little reckless sometimes. Ultimately, despite this, Thoma is blunt, outgoing, straightforward, strong willed, cares deeply for his family and always tries to help them whenever he can.
He is also very resourceful, intelligent and creative as he invented a water rocket with a rope attached to it which played a big part in the escape, enabling the orphans to cross the cliff surrounding Grace Field House. For Norman's 11th birthday, Thoma and Lannion made firecrackers by putting bits of colorful paper and ribbon inside a cup so that when the bottom of the cup was hit by a catapult it would make a noise while the contents flew. Ray taught them how to connect it to the lights so that when they turned the lights on, it went off.[7]

Upon arriving at the Paradise Hideout, Thoma was shocked and happy to see Norman again, leaping into his arms and expressing admiration of his new position. Thoma was later seen with the rest of the children listening to Emma's and Ray's speech about leaving The Paradise Hideout to go to the seven walls to try to make a better promise.
