This article is about the Manga version of The Pursuer. For alternate pages referred to by this name, please click any of the icons above.
The Pursuer (追跡者, Tsuiseki-sha?) is a minor antagonist in The Promised Neverland. He is a Demon who works at Grace Field House, and after fifteen orphans escaped from Grace Field, he is put in charge of retrieving the orphans along with a small group of lesser Demon workers who serve as his underlings.
Appearance[]
The Pursuer is a very tall and slender humanoid Demon who wears a black cape and appears to have a completely black body with the exception of a patch of white on his upper chest. He wears the standard Demon mask - a gray mask with two vertically placed eye holes and one small horn on each side of the forehead. The only thing that is different about his mask is a large X carved over the top eye hole. He wields a long sword which he uses to fight off the mindless wild Demons.
Personality[]
Not much of his personality is shown, but he clearly has no remorse for the orphans being killed and sees them as nothing more than food. This is shown when he tells Ray that his opinions and desires do not matter since he only exists to be eaten. He also views the wild Demons as an "inferior race" and thinks they are "disgusting".
History[]
Very little is known about his history, only that at some point he got a job working at the Grace Field Farm. While his exact position at the farm is unknown, he presumably is ranked rather highly as when fifteen orphans escape from the farm, he is put in charge of retrieving them, with the other Pursuers having to work as his underlings and obey him.
Plot[]
Promised Forest Arc[]
While searching for the escapees in the Demon Forest outside of Grace Field, The Pursuer finds footprints leading southeast and decides to follow them. After the escapees get attacked by a wild Demon, Ray splits from the group to lead the Demon away from his siblings. While Ray tries to lead the Demon into the underground trap, The Pursuer finds him and slaughters the wild Demon with his sword. Ray then hides behind a tree and The Pursuer tries talk him out. In order to prevent them from finding the other escapees, Ray reveals himself and runs away through the forest while The Pursuer's underlings chase him, but not before leaving a message for Emma on a tree telling them to go to B06-32 and warning them of The Pursuer. After running for awhile, Ray eventually collapses from exhaustion and The Pursuer tells him to give up. Just as The Pursuer's underlings are about to capture Ray, Sonju swoops in on his horse and saves Ray and takes him back to the Heathens Hideout. The Pursuer later discovers Ray's message to Emma on the tree, but cannot figure out what it means.
The Pursuer and his underlings continue to search for the escapees for the next five days and begin to increase their numbers after having no luck. After the escapees depart from the Heathens Hideout and leave to go find Shelter B06-32, Sonju returns to where the The Pursuers are and slaughters all of them with his spear so they cannot kill the escapees or report him as being the one who saved Ray.
