Sherry (シェリー, Sherī^?) / Shelly (シェリー, Sherī) is a minor character of The Promised Neverland. She is a four-year-old orphan who formerly resided at Grace Field House Plant 3 under the parental care of Isabella. Due to her age, Sherry is considered to be one of the house's "low-quality goods". Sherry is close friends with Phil, who she is often seen playing with, and Norman, who she greatly looks up to and admires.

Sherry now resides at a different plantation at Grace Field House under the parental care of Yukko along with Phil, Eugene, Carol, Milly, and Charlie after Grace Field House Plant 3 was burnt down.

Appearance

Sherry is a short, petite girl with fair skin, freckles around her nose and blue eyes. She has short, curly strawberry blonde hair styled into a bob that is held back by a red hairband and fringe covering a portion of her forehead. She wears the standard Grace Field uniform- a plain white long sleeved button-up shirt and a white skirt along with brown boots. Her identification number, "74394", is tattooed across the left side of her neck.

History

Sherry was born at Grace Field on September 17, 2041 and sent to Plantation 3 a year later in 2042, growing up along with several other children under the parental care of Isabella. She was left behind with the younger children at Grace Field House, while the children over five years old made their escape. Sherry now resides at a different plantation at Grace Field after the Grace Field House Plant 3 was burnt down.

Personality

Sherry is said to be a stylish girl. Her most prominent trait is her love and admiration for Norman, and is often seen searching for him to have him accompany and play with her, and thus, Sherry bears a happy and joyful demeanor whenever he is around. She enjoys fashion, dressing up, dancing and playing tag and hide-and-seek with her siblings. Sherry is also shown to be responsible, hard-working and helpful, this is proven true when she was spotted carrying a load of dishes around Grace Field House's cafeteria, as she was noticeably the one who was doing the most work. She is also very intelligent and gets very good scores on her daily tests. Additionally, Sherry is very close to Phil and acts as his second-in-command when leading the younger children age four and under.

When Emma told Mujika about her foster siblings in Grace Field, the latter described Sherry to be a fashionable girl for her tender age, Emma also told Mujika how Sherry is precocious; this was evident when Phil mentioned how Sherry's scores for her daily tests in their new orphanage have gone up tremendously. Sherry has a short fuse and is hot-headed. When Phil managed to beat her in the tests consecutively, Sherry was patently jealous and angry towards him. She is also rather emotional as shown when she was completely devastated and in tears upon learning Norman would be shipped out, despite the fact that she did not know the house's secret and believed that he was actually being adopted.

Plot

Introduction Arc

Taking daily tests, playing a game of tag, eating scrumptious homemade food and having a good time – Sherry went through the same routine every day at Grace Field House. After waking up, Sherry was briefly seen walking along the hallways of Grace Field House cafeteria, as she later proceeded to join the rest for breakfast. On the subsequent day, Sherry could be seen once again walking towards the cafeteria with Norman and Nat.

Aware that Norman and the other older orphans are doing chores within the house, Sherry and her best friend Phil came running to Isabella to ask when will they finish. Isabella said how it would be the last day for them to do chores, since a newly appointed caretaker shall be taking over the job for them. The new caretaker Isabella was mentioning turned out to be Krone. When Krone arrived in Grace Field along with a newly imported orphan, Carol, Sherry listened to Isabella introducing the two newcomers, as she later went up to Isabella, who was cuddling Carol, as she wished to hug the adorable infant.

After some time, Sherry and Phil once again came to talk to Isabella, this time asking her to join them outside to play, Isabella rejected their invitations, saying that she needs to have a talk with Krone first. Sherry and Phil later came rushing to the big oak tree in the fields in hopes of seeing Emma, Norman and Ray, but was led down as only Gilda and Don were there. After a while, Sherry could be seen running towards Krone in the orphanage's cafeteria, as she sought to hugged her.

In order to train up the younger orphans as part of the plan for the escape, Emma trained the orphans' speed and physical ability through playing a game of tag. Sherry joined in the game as she followed the other orphans, and fell into a river when she failed to cross a log safely. Krone later joins the orphans to play with them, as she played the role as "It" (the catcher). Sherry could be seen hiding behind a bush in the forest alongside Alicia and Yvette. Sherry and the rest were soon caught by Krone, hence losing the game. Later that night, Sherry joined the rest of the orphans to eat dinner at Grace Field's cafeteria.

Jailbreak Arc

As Emma wondered about, figuring out who could be Isabella's spy, she thought of Sherry and Phil, and how the two frequently asked for Norman's and her whereabouts respectively. Emma comically bent down on the ground refusing to suspect Sherry and Phil to be Isabella's spy, much to the annoyance of Ray.

After Norman woke up from a terrifying nightmare, Damdin and Sherry were next to Norman's bed, as the two happily hugged him. After taking yet another test in the examination room, Sherry glared at her best friend Phil as the latter joyfully ran up to Isabella after hearing how his scores had improved.

Some time after lunch, Sherry carried a load of dishes as Anna chased after her, afraid that it might be too heavy for her and she might drop and break them. As Norman, Ray, and Emma bumped into Gilda and Don along the hallway, Sherry ran towards Norman, attempting to hug him.

A few days later, as Sherry and the other orphans were playing around the fields, Isabella was seen carrying an injured Emma as she informed the children to go back into the Grace Field. A commotion soon spiraled among the orphans as they all turned to look at Emma concerned. Sometime after the orphans went back to the house, they soon stumbled across a former room of Krone's as they noticed the door (which Ray kicked and Don rammed into and broke) lying along the narrow hallway. Sherry, along with Thoma and Lannion, examined the broken door. Later that night, Sherry and another orphan ran passed Norman along the hallway connected to the cafeteria.

Several days later, Isabella brought Norman to the cafeteria to announced (lie) to them how Norman would soon be adopted by foster parents and hence would be leaving Grace Field on the subsequent day. Upon hearing the news, Sherry was in pure shock as she dropped a set of plates she has been holding, shattering them. Sherry soon froze on the spot as she began to cry painfully and ran up to Norman to congratulate him and hugged him.

During the day when Norman will be departing, Sherry and the others were once again playing outside the house when they noticed Norman walking back from the orphanage's forest. Sherry was joyful upon seeing him as she ran up to the latter and hugged him once more. Norman returned the affection by pinching her cheeks.

As Norman and Isabella stood by the exit of the house, Sherry and the others bade Norman farewell as Sherry wished him a safe journey, with tears of bittersweet coming out from her eyes.

On the night when the House burnt down, Sherry was seen expressing concern regarding the absence of her fifteen older siblings. After Isabella failed to retrieve the older children, Sherry was seen sleeping with her other siblings who were left behind, being cared for by Isabella. Emma promises that she will come back within two years to rescue her siblings from Grace Field.

Cuvitidala Arc

Some time after the Grace Field House was burnt and destroyed, Sherry, Phil, Carol, Eugene, Charlie, and Milly were transferred to a new orphanage with a new caretaker. Two months have passed and Sherry has gradually improved in her daily tests, but still could not beat Phil, who always excelled her. Thus Sherry eventually developed jealousy towards him.

One certain day when the caretaker appointed Andrew to investigate her friend Phil after her suspicions of how he knew about the secrets of the orphanage, Sherry stood stiffly on the spot upon seeing the intimidating guest greeting her friend.

Return to Grace Field Arc

After getting the word that all the farms are to be abolished, Emma returns to Grace Field House to save her remaining siblings. Upon seeing Norman again, Sherry cries out of happiness and hugs him.

Human World Arc

Upon arriving in the Human World, Sherry is seen to be visibly worried and shocked about Emma's disappearance. Sherry, along with the other children, agrees to search for Emma so they can reunite with her again. Over the next two years spent in the Human World, Sherry began attending school. During spring 2049, she finally reunites with Emma again and cries tears of joy, even though she lost her memories. In the special epilogue chapter Dreams Come True, Sherry lived out her dream of eating a fluffy pancake.

Skills and Abilities

Physical Strength

For a 4-year-old toddler, Sherry has displayed an immense amount of strength and balance for her age, as she could be seen carrying two stacks of dishes on each hand as she briskly walked along with ease.

Relationships

Phil

Sherry is jealous that Phil scored better than her.

Sherry and Phil are shown to be very close friends, as they are often seen by each others side, playing, and doing most things together. From Sherry's side, she cares for Phil just as much but she also seems to be jealous and has a one-sided rivalry with him since he always scores better than her in tests. After Plant 3 burned down, Sherry and Phil were relocated to the same plantation at Grace Field where they continued to be close.

Norman

Sherry bore a certain degree of admiration towards her older foster brother Norman. As mentioned by Ray, Sherry often went to search for the older orphans, especially Norman, to hug and accompany her.

When Isabella announced (lied) how Norman will soon be sent to foster parents, Sherry dropped a pile of plates within her grasp, as she was visibly devastated in hearing the news. The latter even broke down in tears and cried painfully as she congratulates Norman for getting adopted. This showed the fondness and liking Sherry has for Norman, and how she wished for him to have a happy future with his newfound parents.

Norman, on the other hand, cares for Sherry as much as he cares for his younger foster siblings. After Norman received the news from Isabella on how he would soon be shipped out from the Grace Field, Norman thought of how he wished to live and be together with his friends in Grace Field, as he recalled Sherry to be one of the few friends he wished to be together with.

When Emma, Ray, Norman and the other Grace Field escapees returned to get her and the other children, Sherry was shocked and ecstatic to see Norman alive and immediately pulled him into a hug.

Emma and Ray

Emma had a deep regard for Sherry, as she is a part of her "family". Upon learning that all of her sibling that had been shipped out were dead, Emma vows to escape with all of their younger siblings, despite most of them being under the age of five. Ray, however, is more skeptical of her plan and considers everyone other than Don and Gilda to be burdens to their escape plan.

Despite this, Ray really does care about his younger siblings, but believing that escaping with everyone was impossible, he had emotionally detached from them over the years and tried to avoid becoming too close to them so that he would not be as sad when they were inevitably killed. After Norman successfully came up with a plan to escape without sacrificing anyone, Ray admitted defeat and finally joined Emma in vowing to not leave anyone behind. They ultimately decided to escape with all of their siblings over the age of five and return to rescue their younger siblings within two years, before they were old enough to be shipped out.

Isabella and Yukko

Sherry did not know the real intentions of her caretaker, Isabella, and loved her very much as if she were her real mother. After fifteen of her older siblings escaped from Grace Field, Sherry was sent to a different plantation at Grace Field with a new mother, Yukko. Still not knowing the truth of the orphanage, it is assumed Sherry loved her new caretaker just as much as Isabella.

Jackie, Simon and Helen

After being relocated to a different plantation at Grace Field after the fire and destruction of Plant 3, Sherry was seen happily playing with the children at her new home, mainly Jackie, Simon and Helen. Sherry loved her new siblings, was kind to them and got along well with them. In return, they welcomed her into their family without a second thought.

Eugene, Carol, Charlie and Milly

Sherry is close to Eugene, Carol, Charlie and Milly as they are part of her family. She was often seen playing with them and cared deeply about them. After Plant 3 burned down, Sherry and Eugene, Carol, Charlie and Milly were relocated to the same plantation at Grace Field where they continued to be close.

Grace Field Escapees

Sherry and her older siblings loved each other very much. After fifteen of her older siblings escaped from Grace Field and Plant 3 burned down, Sherry was seen expressing concern of their whereabouts. Sherry did not know the truth of the orphanage nor did she know that her older siblings had actually escaped, and after being relocated to a different plantation at Grace Field, she was told that her fifteen older siblings had been sent to live with foster families. Despite leaving her behind, the Grace Field Escapees vowed to return within two years to rescue Sherry and their other younger siblings before they could be shipped out.
