Seeking the Sky of Freedom (自由の空を求めて, Jijyuu no Sora wo Motomete) is a special bonus chapter of The Promised Neverland. It was published in Weekly Shōnen Jump on December 7, 2020. Seeking the Sky of Freedom is the second bonus chapter for The Promised Neverland. It is also an adaptation of the light novel chapter of the same name with a few minor differences. Viz Media and MANGA Plus published the chapter in English.
Synopsis[]
Krone reunites with her best friend Cecile while training to become Sisters at Headquarters. Together they plan out how they can escape.
Plot[]
Krone met her best friend in her former orphanage, Cecile who helped Krone getting back her embroidery project. Then Krone and Cecile sat together and talked about their lives if there wasn't a farm like this. Cecile took Krone to her room and talked about gave Krone the embroidery with the headquarters' map behind it. Then, they made an escape plan. Shortly after this, Grandma told Krone's class about the sister program, where only one girl can become a Sisters, leaving the rest eliminated and killed. Throughout the program, Krone and Cecile gathered a lot of information and patterns to escape. One day, a girl tried to escape but Grandma activated her heart chip, and the girl died. Then, Cecile told Krone that the device that Grandma used to activate the heart chips in them is Grandma's watch, which Krone agreed to steal it since Grandma would take off her clothes when showering, with Krone doing the laundry at that day. However, Krone got tricked by Cecile, who reported this to Grandma and she recalled Cecile saying about everyone has to do something to stay alive. Krone is taken away and put in custody, with a shocked and sad expression on her face because of Cecile's betrayal. Krone became cold-blooded and trusted only herself afterwards. Cecile got taken away and eliminated for running the whole escape plan and instructing Krone to steal the watch. Afterwards, Krone became a Sister with the other students in her class all eliminated and was assigned to Plant 3, where she assisted Isabella in taking care of the kids. Then the story cut to a scene where Cecile is about to get executed by the Vida, where it is revealed that she planned to sacrifice herself for Krone by making Krone cold-blooded to survive and get herself eliminated as Krone always gets second place after her, which then increased Krone's survival rate if she died. Her only regret is she never get to see a clear free sky with Krone in the end.
