Robert (ロバート, Robāto) is one of the minor character of The Promised Neverland and a recurring character from the A Letter from Norman light novel.
Robert was an orphan two years older than Ray, Emma and Norman who formerly resided at Grace Field House Plant 3 as one of the many foster children of Isabella before he was shipped out.
History[]
Robert was born at Grace Field in 2032 and sent to Plantation 3 a year later in 2033, growing up along with several other children under the parental care of Isabella. Robert loved to play dark, gloomy songs on the piano.[2]
Appearance[]
He has short black hair and wears circular glasses. He wore the standard Grace Field uniform- a plain white long sleeved button-up shirt and white pants along with brown boots. His identification number is tattooed on the left side of his neck.
Personality[]
He is enthusiastic and intuitive. Like all of his siblings, he enjoyed playing tag and hide and seek.[3] Robert enjoyed the arts and music. He especially loved to play the piano. While he enjoyed playing typical joyful children's songs for his younger siblings such as Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and Do-Re-Mi, he was especially passionate about playing dark, melancholic, oppressive melodies. He said he liked playing this kind of music because he wanted to feel the heavy emotions that these songs were written with. Because he was afraid of scaring the younger kids by playing this kind of music during the day, he often practiced in secret at night. If someone came by the music room while he was playing the piano at night, he would hide inside of an empty double bass case.[2]

Emma, Norman and Ray[]
Being two years older than Norman, Emma and Ray, Robert acted as the three's older brother figure and helped them and cared for them on numerous occasions. Emma has a deep regard for Robert, as he is a part of her "family". Upon learning that all of their sibling that had been shipped out were dead, Emma and Norman cry and are grief stricken. Although, Ray had learned to mask his emotions over the years, he still deeply cared for his siblings and was sad whenever someone was shipped out. Ray described all of his siblings that had been shipped out as "good kids" who were "so kind and carefree."
Susan, Michelle, Olivia and Marcus[]
Due to being the same age and having grown up together, Robert got along well with Susan, Michelle, Olivia and Marcus and they all appeared to be close friends.
Isabella[]
Robert did not know the real intentions of his caretaker and therefore it is assumed that he loved her very much, up until his death.
