Kate (ケイト, Keito) is one of the minor character of The Promised Neverland and a character from the A Letter from Norman light novel.
History[]
Kate was an orphan who formerly resided at Grace Field House Plant 3 as one of the many foster children of Isabella. She was older than Emma, Ray, and Norman and was shipped out in 2042.[1] Kate enjoyed playing ball with her siblings.[2]
Appearance[]
She appears to have a short stature and light, straight ear-length hair. She wore the standard Grace Field uniform- a plain white long sleeved button-up shirt and a white skirt along with brown boots. Her identification number is tattooed on the left side of her neck.
Personality[]
She was very athletic and loved to be outdoors and play sports. Like all of her siblings, she enjoyed playing tag and hide-and-seek.[3]
Relationships[]
Emma, Norman and Ray[]
Emma has a deep regard for Kate, as she is a part of her "family". Upon learning that all of their sibling that had been shipped out were dead, Emma and Norman cry and are grief stricken. Although, Ray had learned to mask his emotions over the years, he still deeply cared for his siblings and was sad whenever someone was shipped out. Ray described all of his siblings that had been shipped out as "good kids" who were "so kind and carefree."
Isabella[]
Kate did not know the real intentions of her caretaker and therefore it is assumed that she loved her very much, up until her death.

Trivia[]
- Kate made two cameos in The Promised Neverland anime series' first and second ending theme songs, Zettai Zetsumei and Lamp, respectively. Kate was the short girl with ear-length hair seen praying at the dining table in Grace field's cafeteria along with Isabella and several other orphans. She is seen again listening to Olivia read a storybook with a few other younger orphans near a bed.
- Kate used to sleep in the same bedroom as Ray. A week after Kate was shipped out, three-year-old Conny was moved into Ray's bedroom from Isabella's bedroom and took Kate's old bed.[1]
- Kate is confirmed to be older than Emma, Norman and Ray, but it is unknown by how much.[1]
- Considering Kate was shipped out in 2042 and Emma, Norman and Ray were eight years old in 2042, that means Kate was between the ages of nine and twelve when she was shipped out.
