Jimmy (ジミー, Jimī) is one of the minor character of The Promised Neverland and a recurring character from the A Letter from Norman light novel.
He was an eight-year-old orphan who resided at Grace Field House Plant 3 under the parental care of Isabella.[1] He was one year younger than Ray, Emma and Norman. Due to his age, Jimmy was considered to be one of the house's "good quality goods".[2]
History[]
Jimmy was born at Grace Field in 2035 and sent to Plantation 3 a year later in 2036, growing up along with several other children under the parental care of Isabella. He was shipped out in August 2044 at the age of eight. Jimmy was the child shipped before Susan.[3]
Appearance[]
He is a boy with short brown hair, an upturned nose, and a big smile. He wore the standard Grace Field uniform- a plain white long sleeved button-up shirt and white pants along with brown boots. His identification number, "95194", is tattooed on the left side of his neck.
Personality[]
Jimmy is reassuring and unifying. He is described as a bit unreliable, but was always positive and smiling. He could not get good grades because the time limit to answer each question on tests made him feel anxious and he often could not get his answers in on time. Ray would help him study at times.[3] Like all of his siblings, he enjoyed playing tag and hide-and-seek.
Relationships[]
Emma, Norman and Ray[]
Jimmy appeared to be close to Ray as the two of them would often study together.[3] Emma has a deep regard for Jimmy, as he is a part of her "family". Upon learning that all of their sibling that had been shipped out were dead, Emma and Norman cry and are grief stricken. Although, Ray had learned to mask his emotions over the years, he still deeply cared for his siblings and was sad whenever someone was shipped out. Ray described all of his siblings that had been shipped out as "good kids" who were "so kind and carefree."
Isabella[]
Jimmy did not know the real intentions of his caretaker and therefore it is assumed that he loved her very much, up until his death.

Trivia[]
- In A Letter From Norman, it is revealed that he was a year younger than Ray and was shipped out days after Emma's 9th birthday. Emma's birthday is in August, meaning he was shipped in August 2044 and was 8 years old.
- In the novel, it is revealed that Jimmy was shipped days after Emma's 9th birthday, which was in August 2043 and he was also shipped only one week before Susan. However, we know from this image that Susan was the 6th child shipped before Conny. We know from the novel that Jimmy was the child shipped before Susan, making him the 7th child shipped before Conny. If each plant at Grace Field ships out 5-6 kids a year and one roughly every two months then that means Jimmy and Susan would have been shipped in mid 2044. Basically, there is no way for Jimmy to be shipped days after Emma’s 9th birthday in August 2043 AND be shipped only a week before Susan who, doing the math, would have been shipped in late August or early September 2044. The timeline does not add up.
- For consistency, this article assumes he was shipped in mid 2044 since that fits the timeline the best.
- He is younger than Chucky.[1]
- While his exact is never stated, it can be deduced that he was eight years old due to his ID number, which is between Don and Gilda's ID numbers who were both eight in 2044.
