- Not to be confused with James Ratri.
James (ジェームズ, Jeimuzu) is one of the minor character of The Promised Neverland. James was a seven-year-old orphan who formerly resided at Grace Field House Plant 3 as one of the many foster children of Isabella. Due to his age, James was considered one of the house's "average-quality goods".[1]
History[]
James was born at Grace Field in 2038 and sent to Plantation 3 a year later in 2039, growing up along with several other children under the parental care of Isabella. He was shipped out on March 1, 2045.[2] James was the child shipped before Ceddy.[3][2] He is only mentioned in the anime.
Appearance[]
His appearance is unknown, but he presumably wore the standard Grace Field uniform- a plain white long sleeved button-up shirt and white pants along with brown boots. His identification number is tattooed on the left side of his neck.
Personality[]
Not many things are said about him. Similar to Conny, James was not very intelligent and frequently scored less than 120 on his daily tests. Like all of his siblings, he enjoyed playing tag and hide-and-seek.
Relationships[]
Emma, Norman and Ray[]
Emma has a deep regard for James, as he is a part of her "family". Upon learning that all of their sibling that had been shipped out were dead, Emma and Norman cry and are grief stricken. Although, Ray had learned to mask his emotions over the years, he still deeply cared for his siblings and was sad whenever someone was shipped out. Ray described all of his siblings that had been shipped out as "good kids" who were "so kind and carefree."
Isabella[]
James did not know the real intentions of his caretaker and therefore it is assumed that he loved her very much, up until his death.

Trivia[]
- James is likely named after Captain James Hook from J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan.
