Isabella (イザベラ, Izabera?), also known as Mama (ママ; English "Mom"), is a major character and the main antagonist of The Promised Neverland.
History[]
Isabella was born and raised as an orphan at Grace Field House where she lived a happy life until her crush, Leslie, was shipped out, which brought her intense grief. Shortly after Leslie's departure, Isabella discovered the truth about the orphanage when she tried to run away. Her 'mom', Sarah, convinced her that escaping was impossible and that the best life she could strive for was becoming a 'mom' to other children at the orphanage. When Isabella was shipped out at the age of 16, she began her training to become a 'mom' at Grace Field Headquarters and was eventually put in charge of Plant 3.
Appearance[]
Isabella is a slender, fair-skinned, tall woman with monolid eyes and dark brown hair tied into a bun that hangs down onto the back of her head and goes past her shoulders if let down. As a child, she wore the standard Grace Field uniform- a plain white long sleeved button-up shirt and white skirt along with brown boots. As an adult, she wears the standard Grace Field mama uniform which consists of a black dress with a white blouse underneath it and a white apron over it. Her identification number, "73584", is tattooed on the left side of her neck.
Personality[]
Although initially appearing extremely loving and affectionate to the children, she is actually very manipulative, cunning, and shows much detachment to their tragic fate. Despite this however, Isabella truly cares for Grace Field children deep down and didn't like it when they shipped put as pointed out by Emma when the latter and the other children were escaping the orphanage. Isabella initially denied this but proves herself wrong when the children finally escape Grace Field as Isabella makes no further attempt to thwart their plans and even covers for them despite knowing full well that the consequences for during so would be fatal.

Trivia[]
- Unlike in the manga and anime, Isabella is strongly implied to have been killed in the live action film as punishment for letting the children escape. In an original scene at the end of the film, Isabella admits to Sarah and Peter Ratri that it was her fault the children escaped. Afterwards, a demon grabs Isabella and holds a Vida to her chest strongly suggesting she was killed. However, the scene ends before the Vida penetrates her skin, leaving her fate technically unknown.
