The Gupna is a religious ritual performed by the Demons as their way of dedicating a meal to the Gods. It is believed that if the Vida blooms after killing its victim, the Gods have accepted the meal and only then can the Demons proceed on eating it.

Introduction Arc[]
After Conny has been killed and left in the back of a truck, three Demon plantation workers return to strip her body of its clothes and place her in a shipment bottle. One of the Demons asks "How's the Gupna ritual going?" to which another one responds "Mostly done."[1]
Promised Forest Arc[]
Emma performs the Gupna.
When Emma went hunting in the forest with Sonju, she managed to shoot down a bird. Sonju gave Emma a Vida to perform the Gupna ritual. As explained by Sonju, the Vida doubles as the subject of the Gupna as their way of dedicating a meal to the Gods.[2]
