Goowee (ぬるりん, Nururin) are a species of air-breathing, fishlike creatures covered in a thick slime that are native to the Demon World. They were found in the caverns beneath the Bloodsucker Trees by Ray, although they are not given an official name in the manga series.
They are shown crawling along the edges of tree bark in the Demon Forest, which is assumed to be their natural habitat.

Anime and Manga Differences[]
Goowee play a slightly larger role in the anime than they did in the manga. While they do appear in the manga, they are just mostly shown in the background of the Demon Forest and are never given an official name. In the anime, the children are shown hunting and catching them for food and are given the name Goowee by Thoma and Lannion. There is also a scene in Episode 4 where, after catching Goowee for the first time, the children draw straws to see who will taste test them to see they are safe to eat. Later, when the children are staying in the Temple, Thoma and Lannion are seen carrying around some Goowee in sacks.
