Episode 20 is the eighth episode of season 2 of The Promised Neverland anime. It aired on March 5, 2021.
Synopsis[]
Emma, Ray, Don and Gilda searching for Sonju and Mujika and they found them, but it's to late. Norman, Barbara, Cislo, Zazie and Vincent have already attacked the demon village.
Plot[]
Smee gave the pen to Norman
Norman recalls what happened at Lambda 7214. He did not end up being sacrificed on his shipment day. A man named Peter Ratri welcomed him and he told that he want Norman to help him in his research. Isabella said good bye to Norman. Norman went to Lambda where he took tests and he was able to answer each the question correctly, making his intelligence unmeasurable to the people testing him. Smee said that Norman is chosen as a special sample in Lambda 7214 Norman went to his room to eat. Peter saw Norman in screen and declares that he will control all children in farms, without even a speck of hope. Cicero was injected with various mutations, Barbara was tortured, Zazie was chained to a wall, and Vincent was experimented with his head. Throughout his stay, Norman made a plan to escape Lambda 7124 and was able to get explosives to a bomb he was making. One night, he triggers it and succeeds in his plan, and breaks out the surviving inmates (including the 4 whom he employs under him), and is given a pen by Smee before dying of his injuries.

Back to the present time. In the forest, Emma, Ray, Don and Gilda are looking for Mujika and Sonju everywhere but could not find a trace of them, forcing them to camp for the night. They realize that stopping Norman is useless should they not find them by the deadline or should they come back by the deadline without them. Emma deduces that Norman is hiding something and Ray concurs due to him rushing with his plans and decide to carry on searching for them. Three days pass and they still haven't found them and decide to go to the one area where no demon would dare cross to. They spot horse tracks and follow them. Meanwhile, Norman makes a silent declaration of war on Emma and Ray and proclaims to save all the children in the farms, even if they stand in his way to it. Meanwhile the 4 are chased by the wild demon. Sonju and Mujika were in the area attempting to avoid the demon before seeing the amulet in a branch. The demon was downed by Ray shooting it in the eye, while Emma collapsed from exhaustion. She was almost eaten, but Sonju kills it. Relieved that they found Sonju and Mujika, they tried to bring them to Norman. However, it was all in vain, as Norman and his group raids the village.
The demons are generating .
They made a bomb in the demon village and spread the drug which degenerates them and they begin to eat each other. The two sick young demons came out of their house to flee and Norman personally went into the demon village to slaughter them. One little demon girl tries to escape from Norman's wrath searching for her grandpa, the same demon who often prays for things to get better. Just as he returns, he saw the village burning. Realizing what's happening, he tries to find Emma, confusing the human galloping towards them with his granddaughter fleeing the carnage, whom he finds, but Norman also found them as well, seething with anger and hate.
Emma saw Norman as a child.
The drug reaches them and the little demon degenerates but her grandpa does not. Realizing he's a descendant of Mujika's blood infusions, he attempts to kill them both, but his dagger is knocked out of his hand by Emma's arrow. She sees a younger Norman crying before shaking that thought out of her head and she declares war on him. Norman then sees the carnage his group has wrought onto the demons and begins to have some regrets, before pulling himself together and preparing for battle against Emma.
