Plot[]
Ray calms Emma down and states that everything will go as planned. Norman saves the Transmitter Disable Device in his pocket and runs to the wall, with the strings Don and Gilda did. In thought, he thanks them both. Remembering what Emma said about trees, Norman ties a rope to the top and scales the wall.
In the afternoon, Mama Isabella gathers all the children, but everyone realizes that Norman wasn't there. Isabella shows an expression of distress and asks everyone to enter. In thought, Emma and Ray are happy for Norman's escape and Ray claims that she will know what true panic is because she will never find him. But at this very moment, Norman returns to the house, cheering the children and Isabella and despairing Emma, Don and Gilda and leaving Ray with no reaction.
The night, moments before Norman is dispatched, Ray becomes angry and claims that Norman should have been hiding, but he reveals he had no intention of escaping, shocking Ray and Emma. First of all, Norman decides to tell what he has discovered, he reveals that there is a chasm behind the wall, confirming that Sister Krone wasn't lying about not having guards, but there was nothing they could use to escape. He reveals that he ran in a straight line and found a plant equal to Plant 3 , with the two forming a 60° angle. He speculates that the 5 farms in all form a hexagon, with the center probably being Headquarters . However, he saw a bridge that gives access to the " Outside World", north of Plant 3, where they were supposed to escape.
Phil knocks on the door, letting him know that Mama has been waiting for him. He thanks him and finishes getting ready. He also returns the device to Ray, revealing that he has not disabled his transmitter. Ray realizes that he intended to come back from the beginning and asks why, since he had promised he would run away and live with them. Norman apologizes for having lied, stating that he couldn't make any more mistakes and that he should ensure their survival and his escape will prevent this, so he won't change his decision, saddening them both. He hugs them both and thanks them for the years he's spent, for making him enjoy life. Ray can't believe this and Emma tries to convince Norman to escape, but he refuses and leaves. As he walks towards his death, he comments on how confident Ray was that he would keep his promise, while Emma doesn't realize that he plans to escape with just the five of them, revealing that he has chosen to die so that Emma's ideal can proceed. When he finishes his thought, he walks with Mama Isabella towards the gate.
